Why Portland?

I was born in Portland and grew up in and around the area. There are few places I would rather be.

Where do you eat, drink, and play?

The new food cart pod that went in down the street from the Division shop is pretty rad, I find myself there 3 to 4 times a week. I also love Japanese food and sushi; Yataimura Maru, Toney Bento, and Sushi Ohana do the trick. I like to drink at Landmark Saloon, Reel m inn, Roadside Attraction, and more recently Double Barrel since they opened. I’m always going on day trips out of town. Whether it’s to Mt. Hood, somewhere on the coast, taking a hike to a waterfall, or out to the Sandy River to play in the summer time. We’re always headed somewhere different.

What are the staples of your city?

Friendly people, good spirits, great food, live music every night, amazing summers, mild winters, and a two hour drive from anywhere you want to go.

Describe your 90’s style?

Docs, Converse, flannels, beanies, and Seinfeld.

What’s your sign?

Capricorn

Cats or dogs?

I have cats, but I love both!

What's your philosophy?

Expect the best, be prepared for the worst, ignore what others think, and do your own thing.

What’s your product routine?

I apply Davines Curl Building Serum, Davines Medium Hold Pliable Paste, and Davines Sea Salt Spray to wet hair and then dry with a diffuser.

Why Rudy's?

Rudy’s is a fun company to work for. I love their active involvement in the local community, the flexible hours, and that they provide education and room for growth.

How long have you been a stylist with Rudy’s?

2 years and 4 months

Best story you’ve heard from the chair?

Isn’t there some kind of stylist-client confidentiality about this kind of thing?

I always hear the best stories from fellow service industry workers and people who travel a lot. I once met a guy who was just passing through and needed to get cleaned up. He had been traveling from the east coast hiking and camping the whole way, sometimes not seeing another person for up to a month at a time. It was interesting listening to him talk about how he survives that way, the type of foods he carries, the kinds of people he meets, and just how peaceful it is. I think for me, what I like best, is all the different kinds of people I get to meet and all the stories about their lives they choose to share with me.

Tell us a joke.

What do you call two dinosaurs that have been in an accident?

If you could go back in time and tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?

What you think about yourself is more important that what others think of you.
